April 30th - BCR BDX BAX

Cramer started a new defensive portfolio called "the 3 B's" portfolio which focused on medical device companies. The first stock was CR Bard Inc. (BCR)

Closing Price: $83.13
After Hours High: $84.28
Percent Increase at High: 1.4%
After Hours Most Recent: $83.95
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 1.0%
Sector: Healthcare

% Held by Insiders: 0.49 %
% Held by Institutions: 84.60 %
50 Day Moving Average: $80.82
200 Day Moving Average: $79.12

Too expensive and too small of a price increase in my opinion.

Cramer's next pick for the portfolio was Becton Dickinson & Co. (BDX)

Closing Price: $78.69
After Hours High: $79.50
Percent Increase at High: 1.0%
After Hours Most Recent: $79.35
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 0.8%

% Held by Insiders: 0.80 %
% Held by Institutions: 84.00 %
50 Day Moving Average: $76.66
200 Day Moving Average: $71.89

Once again a small gainer after hours, likely due to the high PPS of these picks so far. Possibly some speculation that BSX is the final "B" pick?

The final pick was not BSX (although he did mention it and offered a quick comparison) but was Baxter International Inc. (BAX)

Closing Price: $56.63
After Hours High: $57.24
Percent Increase at High: 1.1%
After Hours Most Recent: $56.90
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 0.5%
Sector: Healthcare

% Held by Insiders: 0.20 %
% Held by Institutions: 82.40 %
50 Day Moving Average: $52.44
200 Day Moving Average: $47.02

Another defensive/boring pick with the addition of Cramer telling people not to buy right away because there will likely be a pull back resulted in an even smaller price increase (for the cheapest stock of the night no less) of only half a percent.

Come on now! 37% increase at the high?! This looks like back in the day when Cramer made a lot more picks like this. The short percentage in the stock is pretty high, but I'm not sure how many people are going to be panicked into covering assuming they shorted at higher levels then here? Unless someone thinks the company will go bankrupt, shorting a $5 stock doesn't present a compelling story. The chart does show recent weakness as the MACD is crossing to the downside (but not anymore come Monday morning I'm sure), and the price appeared to be heading towards the bottom band. Assuming there are shares available to short this one could see a quick drop. The recent high on the chart was at the $6.20 level, so that might be a level to watch, but it would be nice to see the stock open higher than the $6.41 price it finished off at tonight.

Cramer's final private equity takeover pick was Penn National Gaming Inc. (PENN)

PENN had a decent gain after hours considering the attention IOTN got. This may be the forgotten stock come Monday (although it had over 50,000 shares traded after hours, but IOTN had over 700,000), which could make it vulnerable to an easy drop. The price was approaching the middle band, and is still below the top band on the chart. The price was also declining in recent trading days and the MACD just crossed on the downside. The chart is showing a bullish flag pattern, which is a continuation pattern (to the upside). The technical buy signal for such a pattern is when the price crosses above the top of the top flag area trend line, which in this case is around $49.75, which has not be reached here with this after hours action. So as long as the price doesn't reach that level, which it is about $1 above, there shouldn't be any mass technical buying.

April 26th - ROST TJX

Cramer started out with a commentary on the current market and listed several stocks as good plays. They were: MedcoHealth, CVS Caremark, Allergen, Transocean, Halliburton, Emerson Electric, Caterpillar, Celgene, Genzyme, Colgate-Palmolive, Coca-Cola and Goldman Sachs. Cramer also reiterated his recommendations for his Benefit of the Doubt Stocks and Green Day Stocks. These segments don't normally allow people to focus their buying to 1 stock to bid it up and thus doesn't create a shorting opportunity.

Next Cramer continued his private equity take over picks and recommended Ross Stores Inc. (ROST) and
TJX Companies Inc. (TJX)

Closing Price: $33.82

200 Day Moving Average: $29.53

ROST was hanging out near the bottom of the bollinger bands and the after hours price is still below the middle band, although the after hours high put the price above the top band. Although the last price was at $34.15 - $34.20, it looks like most of the trades where in the $34.50 range which is above the middle band at $34.30. An open above $34.50 could represent a good short back down to the $34.30 level and $34.00 could come in to play with a weak market.

TJX

TJX ended the day between the top and middle bands and remains there with the after hours action. The stock was retreating from the top band, an RSI near 70 and it looks like the MACD is about to cross to the downside. The high after hours came close to the top band of $29.08, so a price near that at the open (or a few minutes after which has been the case this week) could be a good short opportunity.

April 25th - KO PEP CAKE

Cramer recommended Coca-Cola Co. (KO) and Pepsico, Inc. (PEP) and neither stock created much after hours buying, likely due to the size and somewhat boring picks. I'm not saying these are bad picks at all, but when you preface a segment talking about DOW 14,000 one would think of hearing about some stocks that might take off for a double, not some mega cap plays that normally get recommended during a market down trend.

Next, in Cramer's Private Equity Takeover Plays, he recommended Cheesecake Factory Inc. (CAKE)

Closing Price: $28.38
After Hours Most Recent: $29.49
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 3.9%
Sector: Services
Days to Cover: 12.5
Short %: 20.39 %
% Held by Insiders: 6.48 %
% Held by Institutions: 87.60 %
50 Day Moving Average: $26.92
200 Day Moving Average: $26.20

The stock was up 9% today off a strong earnings report. Cramer also said that in this type of market, a stock that is up big one day is likely to be up again the next day. Given the short percentage in the stock and the general positive mood of the market this might be one to stay away from tomorrow. Obviously the bands have no meaning here, except for the fact the price is well above the top band at $27.62. If one were to go against the tide here and consider a short it might be worth waiting between 5 and 10 minutes after the opening bell to see if the stock has risen above tonight's price since this is a recent trend with Cramer's picks. These delayed jumps have resulted in some nice drops quickly after.

April 23rd - ATU DISCA

Cramer looked at some take-over plays from private equity players Actuant Corp. (ATU)

Closing Price: $52.50
After Hours High: $ 54.55
Percent Increase at High: 3.90%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 54.10
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 3.05%

% Held by Insiders: 2.21 %
% Held by Institutions: %
50 Day Moving Average: $51.09
200 Day Moving Average: $49.06

Stock was at the top band of $52.57 at today's close and now well above it with the after hours price action. The volume after hours is pretty strong for a stock of this price, so this takeover segment Cramer is featuring this week might be a good one. The short percentage/days to cover is noticeable and could create some short covering, but I don't see why this won't have a Cramer effect drop tomorrow morning.

Finally Cramer recommended Discovery Holding Co. (DISCA)

Closing Price: $20.93
After Hours High: $ 21.60
Percent Increase at High: 3.20%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 21.52
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 2.82%

50 Day Moving Average: $17.97
200 Day Moving Average: $15.70

DISCA appeared to be cooling off a little from a recent run up from the $16 level as it was showing overbought signs according to the chart above (RSI above 70, MACD convergence). Hard to figure what the downside might be here since the top band of the bollingers hasn't been reached yet at $21.99, but $21 is a bit too close to the close from today for it to get that low (unless the overall market is very bad tomorrow). If the stock does somehow get to the top band area then a fall back to $21.50 would have some potential, otherwise there may not be too big a drop.

April 20th - OMG FTEK

Cramer jumped right to his Green Day segment and recommended OM Group Inc. (OMG)

Closing Price: $52.46
After Hours High: $53.62
Percent Increase at High: 2.2%
After Hours Most Recent: $53.47
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 1.9%

% Held by Institutions: 99.70 %
50 Day Moving Average: $46.49
200 Day Moving Average: $44.34

Very high institutional holder percentage in the stock....almost 100%! The price has been slightly above the top band on the chart for several days, but is now above that $51.99 level. The price was also approaching the 70 level of the RSI. So, there is some downside potential here, and $53.00 would be a good level to watch for the downside, even though it is still well above the top band.

Being Speculation Friday, Cramer recommended Fuel-Tech, Inc. (FTEK)

Closing Price: $22.01
After Hours Most Recent: $23.68
Percent Increase at High: 7.6%
Sector: Industrial Goods
Days to Cover: 1.2
Short %: 2.79 %

% Held by Institutions: 44.60 %
50 Day Moving Average: $26.11
200 Day Moving Average: $20.44

Cramer recommended FTEK over a year ago, and it did have an early drop, but it rebounded strongly in the afternoon and went above initial highs in the morning. The stock is dead on the middle band (or 20 day simple moving average), so does it break through or fall back from here? Given that it is up over 7% after having been down today, I'm going to guess that it will face some resistance at the middle band and retreat. The bottom band at $21.36 isn't likely to come into play though so finding the bottom won't be an exact science. Depending where it opens, $23.00 could be a number too watch.

April 19th - AMX TTEK

Cramer said that a good stock picker to follow is Carlos "Slim", who is now the second richest man in the world. The best stock that Slim holds is America Movil S.A.B. de C.V. (AMX)

Closing Price: $51.11
After Hours High: $52.29

200 Day Moving Average: $41.80

As Cramer mentioned, AMX is at a 52-week high. It is also showing some other toppy technical indicators, but still slightly below the top band of the bollingers even after tonight's spike. Although Cramer says this can keep going up here, it doesn't mean there won't be pullbacks in the stock. The stock was up 36 cents on the day, and down 33 cents after hours before Cramer recommended it. The increase after hours isn't great right now, but maybe it will get closer to $52 tomorrow at the open for a quick drop that may be worth while.

Next Cramer continued his "Green" picks and recommended Tetra Tech Inc. (TTEK)

Closing Price: $20.65
After Hours High: $21.47
Percent Increase at High: 4.0%
After Hours Most Recent: $21.15

TTEK has passed the top band of the chart which was at $20.91, and the price is also currently above the 52-week high. The stock also has an RSI (Relative Strength) of over 70 which can indicate an overbought level. The average volume of the stock is pretty low so the days to cover the current short position in the stock is a little high and could produce some covering tomorrow, but those short % numbers could be out of date by now and several shorts may have already covered due to the recent incline in the stock. I would look for a possible decline tomorrow keying at two levels, either the top band of $20.91 or $21.00 if it finds support at that nice round number.

April 18th - DSL BWA

Cramer's first recommendation was Downey Financial Corp. (DSL) (No instant homework for DSL because the income statement doesn't match what my program is looking for and is returning errors)

Closing Price: $66.87

200 Day Moving Average: $67.98

Ouch! 70% short interest in the stock, so there could be some short covering considering the stock is now above the 200 day moving average. I'm certainly not going to pile on and short here, assuming one could even find more shares to do so. Also, the stock was up pretty strongly today and higher then average volume.

Cramer's third green play of the week was BorgWarner Inc. (BWA)

Closing Price: $74.88
After Hours High: $ 75.92

Another "expensive" pick that is up less than 1% after hours (after things settled down) and thus isn't really a short consideration in my book.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

April 17th - MNST FSLR WFR

Cramer started out by suggesting that Gannett Co., Inc. (GCI) buy Monster Worldwide Inc. (MNST)

After Hours Most Recent: $45.15
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 2.7%

50 Day Moving Average: $48.92
200 Day Moving Average: $43.60

Ok, so not a huge chance this stock will get bought tomorrow morning, but what if? I certainly wouldn't want to get caught short if the stock gets even a few dollars premium tomorrow morning. The stock is also coming off a big decline earlier this month and is approaching the middle band on the bollinger chart at $45.49 with the after hours action. I think this one is worth staying away from shorting.

Cramer continued his "Green" theme and recommended some solar power plays First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) and MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. (WFR). He asked viewers to not buy after hours and wait and buy 10% lower. Both of these stocks trade in the $60's, and FSLR has not even regained its losses from regular trading today, and WFR is only up a small amount. Both are too expensive to get a big pop in my opinion.

Finally Cramer did a "Know your IPO" segment, which of course aren't short opportunities here.

Cramer recommended a series of environmental stocks after an April 2nd ruling that could mean big profits in attempts to stop global warming.

Two power companies are Foster Wheeler, Ltd. (FWLT) and Shaw Group Inc. (SGR)

FWLT
Closing Price: $68.02
After Hours High: $ 68.75
Percent Increase at High: 1.07%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 68.74
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 1.06%
Sector: Industrial Goods
Days to Cover: 1.6

% Held by Insiders: 9.59 %
% Held by Institutions: 82.20 %
50 Day Moving Average: $57.53
200 Day Moving Average: $48.33

FWLT is only up just over 1% after hours, likely due to its price per share being too high for people to feel good about the number of shares they can purchase for the smaller investor.

SGR
Closing Price: $30.80
After Hours High: $ 32.15
Percent Increase at High: 4.38%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 32.01
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 3.93%

Short %: 8.46 %
% Held by Insiders: %
% Held by Institutions: %
50 Day Moving Average: $31.24
200 Day Moving Average: $27.83

SGR had over 50,000 shares traded after hours and is up nearly 4%. Looking at the chart, the stock was trying to break the 20 day moving average and has passed it after hours. The top band is at $32.56, so 55-cents above the after hours price. So, there is some room to the upside tomorrow, but I think there is a chance the stock will open below $32 which could represent a psychological high.

Finally Cramer recommended GS and COF, but both stocks are too expensive for shorting off this recommendation in my opinion.

April 13th - BID MOS CF

Cramer's first recommendation was Sotheby's (BID)

Closing Price: $48.31

After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 48.96
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 1.35%

50 Day Moving Average: $40.51
200 Day Moving Average: $33.61

Lots of room to the top band for BID, but the stock was cooling off recent gains before the Cramer recommendation. The chart looks a lot like NLY from yesterday's show (similar RSI, location within bands, and MACD), and as I posted the update for it, it had a decent drop (but a little slower than usual). Although a little pricey and only a small increase after hours, could be OK for a small gain on the downside.

Finally Cramer recommended 2 speculative uranium plays Mosaic Co. (MOS) and CF Industries Holdings Inc. (CF)

MOS
Closing Price: $30.25
After Hours High: $ 31.13
Percent Increase at High: 2.91%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 31.00

CF

% Held by Institutions: 88.70 %
50 Day Moving Average: $38.31
200 Day Moving Average: $24.30

Both of these speculative uranium plays are above their top bands, which as you can see from the recent charts that that is not a normal occurrence. This does not guarantee a big drop come Monday but shows some potential. MOS, being the favorite of the two picks could mean it will get the most attention Monday, and that CF is more ripe for a better drop since the spike after hours may not have the support behind it.

Update - NLY SPP

April 12th - NLY SPP

Cramer recommended Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (NLY) as a play on the sub-prime crisis.

Closing Price: $15.55
After Hours High: $ 16.37
Percent Increase at High: 5.27%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 16.25
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 4.50%

% Held by Insiders: 0.29 %
% Held by Institutions: 73.10 %
50 Day Moving Average: $14.19
200 Day Moving Average: $13.43

The after hours action has taken the stock to the top band on the chart after the stock had retreated from that level in the previous trading days as it was showing overbought signs then. Above $16.30 (the top band) could represent a good short point for a quick drop in the morning where $16 could be a psychological floor price in early trading.

Finally Cramer recommended Sappi Ltd. (SPP)

Closing Price: $16.79
After Hours High: $ 17.38
Percent Increase at High: 3.51%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 17.16
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 2.20%
Sector: Consumer Goods
Days to Cover: 6.6
Short %: 2.42 %
% Held by Insiders: %
% Held by Institutions: 7.80 %
50 Day Moving Average: $14.62
200 Day Moving Average: $14.14

Thinly traded stock that has passed its 52-week high with this after hours action (although they won't count it as a new 52-week high). The after hours high came close to the top band at $17.40 but the more recent price is below it now by around 25-cents. Again the stock has an RSI close to 70 which can indicate being overbought and the MACD was converging to the downside as the stock looks like it is trying to hold its gains from a run from the $13 level. Ideally a short over $17.40 would be best for a quick drop and $17-even could be a downside number to watch similarly to NLY.

April 11th - DYN BRCD Q WAG ADP GWW

Cramer suggested speculation as a way to keep yourself entertained in the market, especially after a down day in the market like today. He recommended

Well Cramer did a good job at holding people off from bidding these stocks up too much. Putting a $12 price target on the stocks certainly seems to stop people from paying that much tonight. DYN has some buzz around it (a lot from Cramer) and BRCD is up the least amount, so that leaves Q. The price is still below the top band after a few down days for Q, so the upside might be limited to the $9.12 range if $9 even isn't a barrier. The middle band (or 20 day SMA) is at $8.85 so that would be a key figure to look at for the downside.

Next Cramer recommended some dividend plays and they were:
Walgreen Co. (WAG)
Closing Price: $45.99

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP)
Closing Price: $43.98

WW Grainger Inc. (GWW)
Closing Price: $77.00

The focus was on ADP as his #1 pick for these quality dividend stocks. These safe plays never create big spikes and the prices are too high anyway.

April 10th - CHTR WYN HSC

Cramer's first recommendation was Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR)

Closing Price: $2.84
After Hours High: $3.05
Percent Increase at High: 7.4%
After Hours Most Recent: $3.02
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 6.3%
Sector: Services
Days to Cover: 8.0
Short %: 23.93 %
% Held by Insiders: 13.58 %
% Held by Institutions: 78.50 %
50 Day Moving Average: $3.04
200 Day Moving Average: $2.27

Although Cramer asked people not to bid CHTR up to $3, the stock went to that level instantly and continued even higher. Cramer recommended CHTR on February 22nd and here are the details of trading the next day:
February 23rd
Pre-Market High: $ 3.28
Pre-Market Low: $ 3.18
Pre-Market Close: $ 3.26
Pre-Market Volume: 813,860
Last Nights Price: $3.35

Regular Hours Open: $3.26
Initial Spike Price: $3.26
Time of Spike: 9:30am
Initial Drop in Price from Initial Spike: down $0.10 (-3.1%) to $3.16
Time of Initial Drop: 10:41am
High for the Day: $3.26
Low for the Day: $3.15
End of Day Closing Price: $3.19, up $0.09

So the stock was a little higher then (which means Cramer's recommendation didn't seem to hold very well). As you can see the stock traded in a very tight range, so the same could happen again. There is an opportunity here tomorrow, but given the possibility of a tight range it could be difficult.

Next Cramer recommended Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (WYN)

Closing Price: $34.68
After Hours High: $35.55
Percent Increase at High: 2.5%
After Hours Most Recent: $35.35
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 1.9%
Sector: Services
Days to Cover: 1.8
Short %: %
% Held by Insiders: 0.07 %
% Held by Institutions: 79.80 %

After hours action has taken WYN right around the top band on the chart which is currently at $35.44. Since the stock hasn't skyrocketed after hours (up just under 2%) and is near that top band I have a feeling that it could hold up pretty well tomorrow assuming the overall market isn't down a lot. The after hours volume is pretty light though so if that doesn't pick up tonight or in the pre-market, then it may not hold its gains, but otherwise I don't see much downside.

Finally Cramer recommended Harsco Corp. (HSC)

Closing Price: $45.35
After Hours High Most Recent: $46.12
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 1.7%
Sector: Basic Materials
Days to Cover: 1.8
Short %: 0.84 %
% Held by Insiders: 0.63 %
% Held by Institutions: 66.80 %
50 Day Moving Average: $43.26
200 Day Moving Average: $40.19

Once again, another pick that is approaching the top band with the after hours push. This makes predicting the move tomorrow a little difficult. HSC is on the pricey side for me, and as a result is only up 1.7% after hours, which means (assuming the stock doesn't go red tomorrow) that the max downside is 1.7% which isn't great in a situation where the stock isn't even showing too strong of an indication of being overbought. I expect some down ticks tomorrow morning as with mostly all of Cramer's picks, but once again, probably not enough room to the downside to make this a worthwhile opportunity.

April 9th - ROSE INCY VCLK AQNT

Cramer's first recommendation was Rosetta Resources, Inc. (ROSE) (Click the link to check out my new "Instant Homework" for ROSE).

Closing Price: $21.06
After Hours Most Recent Price: $22.67
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 7.6%
Sector: Basic Materials
Days to Cover: 20.7
Short %: 5.73 %
% Held by Insiders: 17.27 %
% Held by Institutions: 52.20 %
50 Day Moving Average: $19.09
200 Day Moving Average: $18.11

The price for ROSE has shot above the top band on the chart which was at $22.28. The RSI was showing close to overbought levels as the stock was leveling off after a big run up. The days to cover the current short position is pretty high even on a small actual percentage short, but this is because of the low trading volume of the stock. In the end, this is an oil/gas stock which I avoid due to the volatility of the underlying commodity price of the stock. A gambler could ignore the potential news about oil and look for the stock to come back towards the top band at $22.28 early tomorrow morning.

Next Cramer recommended Incyte Corporation (INCY)

Closing Price: $7.02
After Hours Most Recent: $7.71
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 9.8%
Sector: Healthcare
Days to Cover: 9.3
Short %: 10.81 %
% Held by Insiders: 1.53 %
% Held by Institutions: 77.50 %
50 Day Moving Average: $6.76
200 Day Moving Average: $5.45

Cramer tried to warn people not to take this stock up to $8, so it would only make sense for a short as close to that number as possible for a quick pullback at tomorrow's open. The stock closed above the top band already today at $6.97, so this push after hours takes us well above that now. The trick with the cheaper picks is to only look for a small drop because a small drop equals a pretty good percentage drop.

Finally Cramer looked at 2 potential takeover targets in ValueClick Inc. (VCLK) and aQuantive Inc. (AQNT)

VCLK
Closing Price: $28.00
After Hours High: $ 29.80
Percent Increase at High: 6.43%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 28.85
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 3.04%
Sector: Services

Short %: 10.05 %
% Held by Insiders: %
% Held by Institutions: %
50 Day Moving Average: $26.49
200 Day Moving Average: $21.04

The price was walking the top band before the Cramer recommendation showing some upside strength.

AQNT
Closing Price: $28.04
After Hours High: $ 28.92
Percent Increase at High: 3.14%
After Hours Most Recent Price: $ 28.87
Percent Increase at Most Recent Price: 2.96%
Sector: Technology
Days to Cover: 7.9
Short %: 11.27 %
% Held by Insiders: 7.11 %
% Held by Institutions: %
50 Day Moving Average: $26.80
200 Day Moving Average: $24.94

AQNT on the other hand just took a breather from walking the top band, but the after hours action has taken the price right back to the top band area of $28.82. Since both this and VCLK are takeover plays, the prices might hold a little better then usual as people may have the patience to wait these plays out. Given their locations within the bollinger bands, VCLK is in the better shorting position since it is well above the top band. Taking a look at the tech sector tomorrow morning (GOOG, YHOO etc) could give an idea if there will be extra sector strength behind these picks or not.
